UB produces new mechanical engineers

The University of Bohol College of Engineering and Technology had produced new four mechanical engineers who successfully passed the April 2009 board examinations.

Engr. Liberato H. Lupot, Jr., dean of the college bared the successful examinees as follows: Engr. Julius Broñola, Punta Cruz, Maribojoc, ; Engr. Jessie Peter Estapia Galanida, Tabuan, Garcia Hernandez; Engr. Mark Vincent Paul Claro Lakilak, Tagbilaran City; and Engr. Mariflor Reyes Wagas, Estaca, Pilar.

Sixty graduates from the Teachers College Department and one psychology teacher of the University of Bohol successfully passed the recent Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) given by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).

UB produced 49 new criminologists

It’s another feather to UB’s academic cap – 49 new criminologists!

Atty. Dodelon F. Sabijon released last Friday the names of the UB’s 49 Bachelor of Science in Criminology graduates who successfully passed the April 2009 Criminologist Licensure Examination by the Board of Criminology in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga this April 2009.

UB has the most number of passers, among the schools in Bohol offering Bachelor of Science in Criminology. UB also garnered a very high passing average of 53% for her fresh graduate-takers. The national passing average is just 31.60% after only 2,433 passed among 7,702 examinees.

It must be noted that UB has been producing hundreds of successful criminologist throughout the years. Many of these UB-produced criminologists are now respectful law enforcers and are already successful in their chosen fields.

Meanwhile, the oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Centennial Hall, Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila.

Registration for membership with The Professional Criminologists Association
of the Philippines (PCAP) will start on Thursday, April 30, 2009.

UB's New Lawyer

The University of Bohol once again gets another feather to its academic cap when one of her graduates from the College of Law successfully passed the 2008 Bar Examinations.

Atty. Gregorio B. Austral, dean of the UB College of Law reported last week that Atty. Kurt Adolph Bungabong is UB's new lawyer. Atty. Bungabong is the only one who passed the tough examination among four new examinees from the University of Bohol, giving UB 25% passing percentage. The national passing percentage is only 20.58%.

Atty. Bungabong is also a certified public accountant and is presently the city accountant of the city of Tagbilaran.

The University of Bohol, since it opened its College of Law in 1946, has produced many prominent lawyers that include: Gov. Erico B. Aumentado; Bohol Former Governor Atty. David B. Tirol;Judge Sesinio Virtudazo; City Prosecutor Adriano Montes; Cong. Roberto Cajes; DepEd Reg. Dir. (Ret.)Atty. Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr.; and many many more.

It may also be recalled that UB is the first school in Bohol to chalk 100% passing percentage in the Bar Examinations in 1951, 1952 & 1953.

In related developments, Atty. Austral announces that enrollment to the UB College of Law for 1st semester of school year 2009-2010 starts on May 4, 2009. Classes begin on June 8, 2009. Honor graduate of any baccalaureate degree will enjoy academic scholarships at the UB College of Law, which also offers all air-conditioned classrooms.

UB celebrates achievers day.

The Achievers Day one of the grandest awarding ceremony of the University of Bohol was held last February 24, 2009 the University of Bohol at the UB quadrangle, this city.

The Achievers Day is a tribute to the men and women of this prestigious learning institution who made it to the top because of their determination and perseverance – ordinary students with extraordinary potentials. Miss Evelyn Cuares Caseñas a 10th palcer in Nursing Board Examination and a reviewer at Powerhouse Training and Review Center is the guest speaker.

UB student is among the top ten students of the Philippines

University of Bohol senior student Ann Bernaldez Crusit ranks 4th in the final search for the Top Ten Jose Rizal Model Student of the Philippines, declared last December 2008.

Ann is a fourth year student taking Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in Physical Science in the University of Bohol. She was chosen to represent UB to the search for Top Ten Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines, a prestigious and most awaited contest by our country’s universities and colleges. This contest is organized by the Order of the Knights of Rizal who’s aim is to do a search for ten outstanding students from all over the country, who embodies the Rizalian qualities such as love of the country, concern for the youth, and being brilliant minded.

One hundred eighty students from different colleges and universities applied to the said contests. Miss Crusit was among the 20 chosen finalist who flew to Manila for free. Being chosen as the 4th placer, Miss Crusit received a trophy, a certificate and P10, 000. cash, during the awarding ceremony held at Fort Santiago Manila.

All the 20 finalists/winners automatically become members of the Alumni of the Jose Rizal Model Student of the Philippines and thus are expected to do projects which will show that they really are models of Dr. Jose Rizal. Everytime they do projects like community outreach programs, they will report the activity to their headquarters in Manila.

It may be recalled that Ann was chosen as the Miss UB Personality 2006. Right now, Ann is currently engaged in Various activities as she is the President of the Samahang Kabataan Volunteers, President of the Campus Student Organization of UB, Vice-Governor of the UB College of Education, and also the President of the UB Science Conquestors Club. She is also one of the members of the Campus Youth Christian Ministry. Miss Crusit indeed is not just a remarkable true UBian but also a top model student of the Philippines. (By: Michalle W. UB produces 9 new pharmacists

The University of Bohol College Of Pharmacy had produced new pharmacists who successfully passed the Pharmacist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Pharmacy last January 2009.

Miss Eva B. Campeciño, dean of the UB College of Pharmacy release the name of the nine successful examinees: Muaminah Opada Camama of Tabalong, Dauis, Bohol; Ma. Venice Manuta Centino of Dipatlong, Maribojoc, Bohol; Richel Tabaranza Dapitilla of Kauswagan, Trinidad, Bohol; Joan Arabejo Jabines of Poblacion, Loreto, Agusan del Sur; Josephine Lesula Legitimas, of Catagbacan Norte, Loon, Bohol; Stella Catubag Lopase of Upper Songculan, Dauis, Bohol; Janice Ivy Regañon Poligrates of Basdacu, Loon, Bohol; Gerzen Araiz Resabal of Toril, Maribojoc, Bohol; and April Abanto Sumaylo of Songculan, Dauis, Bohol.

The University of Bohol is the only institution in the whole province of Bohol that offers the course in Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. The College of Pharmacy has also produced many outstanding pharmacy graduates over the years. (By: Michalle W. Guillena)
